New loan signing Fabio Borini, who scored on his debut on Saturday in the 3-2 home win over Nottingham Forest, said Swansea City have 'really impressed me'.
The young Italian, who turns 20 years old on Wednesday, seems like a confident forward who has a great eye for a goal and he proved on the weekend that he has the strikers instinct and finishing ability to score goals regularly at this level.
After a memorable debut that saw Borini net two goals, one either side of half time helped the Swans get back to winning ways, the fans are already hoping that we can sign him in the Summer. His contract expires with Chelsea in June and it looks like it won't be renewed. The Swans would have to pay a small compensation fee for Borini if they do sign him, but it would be well worth it. TalkSport are already reporting that he will join us permanently in a few months, but Borini is only willing to concentrate on the next 8 games for now, as he told the Evening Post:
'I'm not thinking about the summer,'
'I'm just thinking about the eight remaining games and doing my best, then we'll see what happens.
'I really like the English atmosphere and English football — I think that's my football.
'Brendan told me everything about this club. Since he's been here he's been chasing me to come.
'He said he wanted me from the beginning of the season so it's good to be here now.
'I said 'yes' because I need to play and the Championship is a great league.
'I want to play, get goals and obviously I can win something as well.'
Borini also says he's now looking to score goals after his excellent debut:
'To my team-mates at Chelsea reserves I say I should score five in nine, but if I score two goals in one game maybe it will be more,'
'I scored two on Saturday. I could have scored three, but it's okay. I'm not disappointed because we got the win.
'We created so many chances that I could have got a hat-trick and Scott (Sinclair) could have got a hat-trick.
'Everybody in this team can score goals, but it's about winning, not my performance, because we want to get into the Premier League without play-offs.'
'It's very difficult to get in front of the best strikers in the world, but you can learn from them,'
'You have to be patient and what you learn from them you can take anywhere.
'I knew the way Swansea play because I know Brendan and I knew I could get in the team straight away without any adaptation.
'That's helped me and I really like the atmosphere around the team.
'I've fitted in very quickly and I didn't expect that because I've never been on loan.
'Swansea have really impressed me.
'In Chelsea I always played 4-3-3 and I've played with Brendan before so I know what he wants from a striker.'
