Former Bluebird Boland On Trial

Swansea City have handed former Cardiff City midfielder Willie Boland a trial.

The 30 year-old was released from Ninian Park this summer after 7 years at the club.

He'll spend a week on trial with Swansea City and they have also handed trials to goalkeepers Mikel Herbet and Andy Oakes as they search for competition for Willy Gueret.

Kenny Jackett said: 'Central midfield is an area we're short in with Owain Tudur Jones, Darren Way and Leon Britton's operations,'

'Willie wants to continue living in Wales so we'll see how the trial goes.

'Of the keepers, Mikel is a 24-year-old Frenchman who has been playing in Australia.

'Andy is 29, a free agent after his time at Walsall came to an end.

'Both have been recommended by agents and we'll take a good look at them.'

Every team should have a Boland, I think he'll do great for you. Just dont be expecting any goals. Ever.

Boland is tenascious and breaks up so many opposition attacks. Opponents absolutely hate playing against him. Tidy enough passing but not going to provide a killer pass or beat players.
