Hartson: Rodgers Is My Hero!

Swansea-born former Welsh international striker John Hartson said Brendan Rodgers is his hero right now for guiding his beloved Swansea City to 2nd place in the Championship.

The former Celtic forward always expressed his desire to play for the Swans before he retired but he never got the opportunity to do so.

Hartson told Swans Player about how happy he is to see Swansea City at the top end of the Championship, and paid compliments to manager Brendan Rodgers for doing such a great job this season.

'Brendan is my hero at the minute.

'Everyone knows how much I love the Swans, it's my club, but I think we are probably doing better than most Swansea supporters ever wished for at the start of the season.

'To be flying the way we are in second place is unbelievable. It's exceeded everyone's expectations, even my own.

'Football fans always want more, but I think our fans do appreciate what Brendan has done this season; what he has brought to the club; the players he has brought to the club; plus the exciting football Swansea have been playing.

'I'm very friendly with some of the Swansea players and they tell me he's fantastic on the training ground. But it's one thing being a good coach, another thing being a good manager - he's both.

'Now being selfish - and I'm one of them - I'd like to see us finish the job off. I don't think the play-offs will be a disaster; it will be a success. But having been up there for most of the season in third, fourth and fifth place, if we can just push on to a top two finish it will be an amazing achievement - even bigger than QPR winning the league for what they've spent.''

Hartson also talked about never playing for the Swans and the possibility of managing them in the future:

'It still wrangles with me that I never played for the Swans,''

'As for managing Swansea, then you can't rule anything out. But at the moment I'm a million miles away, especially with Brendan doing so well and on the verge of taking my club to the Premier League.''

Hartson, Brendon Rodgers is a rookie manager and is making loads of mistakes at the moment. Only time will tell if he's got the necessary quality.

So many mistakes that we're 2nd?
