'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Van Der Gun - Happier Than He Was

Cedric Van Der Gun says he's happier than he was back in the autumn after being involved a bit more in the matchday squad.

The Dutchman expressed his concerns last year as he wasn't playing regularly in the first team and even hinted that he'd like to move in the New Year if his situation didn't change.

To be honest, his situation hasn't really changed all season in terms of getting more games. In 2011, he's made a handful of brief substitute appearances in the League plus one start in the FA Cup defeat at home to Leyton Orient.

Van Der Gun says he will play anywhere to play more games:

'I will play anywhere,'

'We have got two good wingers (in Sinclair and Dyer) who have been playing well, but I can play in different positions.

'I have played in other positions in the past.

'I have done it at other clubs and I am really comfortable with that, so we will see what happens over the next couple of months.'

'I am enjoying things a bit more,'

'A couple of months ago I was not even in the squad a couple of times, but since January I have been in there for the last ten or 12 games.

'I have had some minutes to play on the wing, so my situation has changed a little bit.

'I am happy I am at least in the squad at the moment. I have not played in the last couple of games, but maybe between now and the end of the season I will get to play some more minutes.

'I am a football player. I always want to play and I can't be happy when I am not involved.

'But my situation was pretty hopeless and now it is a lot better. When the gaffer uses me, I am happy.'

Van Der Gun says he's completely focused in helping the team reach the Premier League:

'I know what kind of player I am and I know what I can do,' van der Gun said.

'In every training session and every match I try to do my best.

'I will carry on doing that between now and the end of the season and see what that brings me.

'We have a great chance to get promoted this season, and that's what I am focusing on.'
