Speed: Rodgers Deserves A Lot of Credit

Wales boss Gary Speed was impressed with Swansea City's performance on Saturday as they beat Leeds United 3-0 and says that manager Brendan Rodgers deserves a lot of credit.

The Swans played a more negative style of possession-football under former boss Paulo Sousa last season but Brendan Rodgers has given us a much more attacking edge that is so much more entertaining to watch.

Speed says the team is now full of confidence but we still have to take each game as it comes as we hope to stay in the automatic promotion places:

'Swansea were excellent — some of the football was fantastic,'

'The manager has got to take a lot of credit.

'They get on the ball, they take risks and they're not afraid of making mistakes. But they are not only a good footballing team, they are very determined out of possession and they keep clean sheets. That makes them very hard to play against.'

'They've been excellent for the last few weeks,'

'I've seen them a few times and against a good Leeds team they really deserved the 3-0 win.

'They've got the squad to push on. Look at the bench (on Saturday) — they have got Beattie, Pratley, Britton and Jazz Richards, who's played the last few.

'The confidence is oozing out of everyone. If they keep performing like that until the end of the season they have got a great chance of automatic promotion.

'Hopefully they can keep it going this year but they have to keep their focus — they can't get ahead of themselves.

'They did it against Leeds, now they have to go out and do it in the next game.'
