Swansea's Determination Pleases Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers said he was pleased with the 'Steel and determination' of his side for holding on and beating Coventry City 1-0 this evening.

Coventry City put the Swans under plenty of pressure and the defence had to work hard for long spells to keep the scores at 0-0.

It wasn't until Rodgers made a double substitution and brought on Stephen Dobbie, along with Luke Moore on 72 minutes that we looked threatening. Dobbie scored 4 minutes after coming on to give us a big 3 points to put us up into 2nd place.

Rodgers said:

'It was a tough game for us and we knew it would be. We knew Coventry would be coming into this fresh and they have a style that meant we knew we would have to defend a lot of high balls,'

'We stood strong to that and we kept ourselves in the game for long enough that we could eventually take control of a difficult game and get a fantastic win.

'We had to show steel and determination to get the result and those are the things you have to have if you are going to be a top team and be successful.

'I think we have shown what we are all about and Ashley Williams has just said that we are now winning games that we maybe wouldn't have done before.

'That's our eighth away win in the Championship and that's a very pleasing return.'
