Williams Targets Maximum Points This Week

Ashley Williams says Swansea City have the opportunity to 'signal our intentions' this week with two key games coming up.

With Cardiff City, Leeds United and Norwich City dropping points on Saturday, the Swans were able to gain some ground on their promotion rivals with a comfortable 3-0 home win against Doncaster Rovers.

Brendan Rodgers will now be looking to continue the momentum this week with a trip to Coventry City tomorrow, before hosting Leeds United on Saturday.

Ashley Williams believes the Swans have a great opportunity this week to show their promotion intentions with 6 points up for grabs over the next 5 days:

'The Championship is a tough league and this week sums it up,'

'We're looking at getting maximum points, which we have to do at this stage of the season.

'To get nine points from the three games is a big target, but that's the pressure we put on ourselves.

'We want to signal our intentions this week. If we get maximum points then it will show the league that we are looking at the automatic spots.

'We want to beat the teams around us, especially at home.

'But the mark of a very good side is doing it on the road too. The gaffer has said we have to go to places and win, not just rely on our home form.

'And if we can win at Coventry, that will keep us on target for our aim.'
