Beattie Can't Wait To Start More Games

Craig Beattie says he's 'chomping at the bit' to start more games as he proved again on Saturday the goalscoring quality he has.

The Scottish forward has struggled to get a regular place in the starting line-up and an injury at the start of the season didn't help his cause to earn the regular lone-striker role.

"Common sense says he should start on Sat. but I fear Rodgers will keep playing Moore trying to prove a point."

Brendan Rodgers is showing faith in new signing Luke Moore, starting him in every game since he joined last month, but he is still yet to score a goal for his new club.

Beattie meanwhile has started just 7 League games plus a further 6 substitute appearances and has scored 4 goals, not a bad return considering the few games he's been involved in this season.

Beattie told BBC Sport how he can't wait to start playing more games:

'I give him the eyes every day at training. I'm chomping at the bit, he knows that. All I can do is try and show when I come on that I do well and I've come on and done well and nudged the winner.

'So I can't do any more than I'm doing and the rest is the manager's decision. That's his to make.

'We know what the prize is at the end. A couple of the lads have played in the Premier League and everyone here wants to get there and we know what the prize is.'

Beattie also said that Saturday's performance at Middlesbrough wasn't great, but it was enough to give us a 'fantastic' win after coming back from 3-1 down.

'We didn't play as well as we could — we don't concede three goals too often — but it was a fantastic win for us,'

'We had to put Cardiff behind us and we did that.

'The three points against Middlesbrough were just as important as the three against Cardiff for the players, and the main thing was that we won this game.

'We have bounced back really well and we can kick on from here now.

'We have got some winnable games coming up and we are a good side — teams are not happy coming to face us these days.

'We are improving all the time, we are progressing. We finished eighth in the first season in the Championship and then seventh, and this season we have been between second and fifth all along.

'I know for a fact that teams don't look forward to the Swansea fixture now and we have to keep that going.'

'Even when we were 3-1 down I had a feeling I was going to get the winner,'

'I felt like it before the game started. I worked with their manager at West Brom and things didn't work out as well as I hoped for me there.

'I have been struggling to get as many starts as I would have liked recently.

'To get a winner in the 94th minute — it doesn't come much better.'

He should be starting more games, he could link up well with Dobbie. he can't keep starting Moore for too much longer, only 1 decent game he's had so far
