Swansea Offer For Scotland 'Way Off' Says Jewell

Swansea Offer For Scotland 'Way Off' Says Jewell

Paul Jewell says Swansea City will have to improve their loan offer if they want to sign Jason Scotland on a temporary basis.

The Ipswich Town manager has given permission for the former Swan to go out on loan, but he insists that his new club must pay all of his weekly wages during his loan spell.

It's obvious then that the Swans haven't offered to do that, so unless we are willing to pay all of his wages, or Scotland takes a pay-cut, the striker won't be making a return to the Liberty Stadium.

When asked if a move was likely, Jewell said:

"It all depends on who you to talk to.

"If you talk to Brendan Rodgers (Swansea manager) then "yes", if you talk to the chairman then "no." And I`ve spoken to both of them.

"I don`t know. Brendan Rodgers spoke to me on Tuesday. I said that I didn`t particularly want to lose him (Scotland), but if any player doesn`t want to be here and the offer is right then I will listen to it.

"I phoned Brendan and he called me back. I told him what the deal is and I haven`t heard anything since.

"It`s a long way off from the offer they have made. We are not going to pay Jason Scotland`s wages for him to play at Swansea."

There have been on-going rumours for the past week or two linking Jason Scotland will a return to South Wales, and while they strongly suggested he was close to joining us, a potential move is still up in the air as the two clubs try to reach an agreement.

Jason Scotland would be welcomed back to the Liberty Stadium having scored 53 goals in two successful seasons with us two years ago. Whether or not he can re-produce that excellent goalscoring form remains to be seen, but hopefully we'll get the opportunity soon to see if he can still score regularly at Championship level.

that is complete and utter rubish. he has been amazing with ipswich and thats with playing with a strike partner. and every1 knows that he prefers to be upfront on his own. and besides swansea have a low wage budget plus scotland is alot better than the current strikers we have.
