Swansea City have recently turned down a £125,000 bid from Southend United for midfielder Andy Robinson.
And just as we revealed over a month ago (link here) we also failed to sign Brentford midfielder Jay Tabb as he opted to join Conventry City.
Chairman Huw Jenkins says its been frustrating trying to sign players as despite being able to offer the same money as the other clubs, but Jenkins said: ''but the lure of the Championship has beaten us.''
'Fair play to the players, they are taking the opportunity when it arises to move up a division or two. But for us it's very, very frustrating.'
'Clearly we're going to have to look harder and work harder, but there are other players around,'
'We've still got a few options and we're still waiting on a few decisions.'
There was speculation during May that a number of Championship clubs were interested in Robinson, such as Wolves and Hull.
A move for the former Tranmere midfielder is highly unlikely as he is keen to stay at the Liberty Stadium and is expected to sign a new 2-year contract with the Swans.
He said: 'My agent has told me that a few clubs have come in and that's good for me because people are taking notice of my ability.
'But I just want to get myself sorted with Swansea. I spoke to the gaffer a few times last season. I told him that this is my club and I want to stay.
'They've offered me a new contract and, hopefully, it will all be done soon because I don't want it to drag on.
'I just want to get it signed and it's up to the club now to sort it out. Normally my contract situation is wrapped up within a week, but there are a few things to iron out. Any speculation will stop when it's done.'
'It's a great league (Championship) and I want to play there because I believe I'm good enough,'
'But I want to play there with Swansea. We didn't quite make it last season, but that's our aim now for next year.'
Robinson was excellent last season as he scored an impressive 17 goals and both the chairman and manager has been impressed and have rewarded him with a new deal.
Jenkins said: 'The progress Andy's made over the last few years has been fantastic,'
'He's a vital part of our plans and we're waiting for Andy and his agent to come and sign the new contract.'
