Rodgers 'Bitterly Disappointed' With Cup Defeat

Brendan Rodgers said he is 'bitterly disappointed' to lose 2-1 at home to Leyton Orient in the FA Cup 4th round.

Alan Tate conceded a late own goal after Cedric Van Der Gun cancelled out Smith's opener.

The Swans dominated most of the game and had enough chances to win the fame comfortably, but they were punished for not being clinical inside the box, Rodgers said:

'We're bitterly disappointed. When you don't take your chances, this can happen.

'I never thought with this group a result like that would happen because the key to our success in the Championship has been our ability to work hard.

'But we just weren't quite at our best.

'We got the ball in good areas but when you aren't clinical enough it is disappointing. We didn't have that extra bit of quality in the final third.

'It looked like a matter of time. We had lots of possession but we didn't have the finishing touch and that is what the game is about.

'You have to turn your domination into goals but we are suddenly out of the tournament.

'But congratulations to Leyton Orient and I don't want to take anything away from them. They stayed in the game and got the result through an unfortunate goal.'

I think Rodgers should take a lot of the blame. Why he perservered with Luke Moore was beyong everyone else in the Stadium. The lad is completely out of confidence and is hiding in games--he's not making any runs to pull defenders out of the box and is so obviously not a target man. Surely Dobbie should have started with Beattie a playing substitute. On top of that Rodgers took off our best player in Augustein, who was bossing midfield allowing the Orient players to come forward more at the end. Rodgers showed his inexperience today--very poor from him.

totally agree philto, rodgers made some mistakes, leaving moore on for too long, takig agustien off, and not putting dyer on a lot earlier. we missed out on 90k and hosting Arsenal in the 5th round

Yes that draw really rubs it in doesn't it. I'd have loved to see Arsenal at the Liberty.

Ok were out. Leyton O came down to play football and not defend like a lot of teams do at the Liberty. They got a result good luck to them, they really do need the money and will get a good payday, well done the big O. Lets move on,who have we got next at home ??? lol
