Rodgers Not Spoken To Ipswich About Scotland

Brendan Rodgers says he hasn't had any contact with Ipswich Town regarding former Swansea striker Jason Scotland after rumours suggesting that he was set for a return to the Liberty Stadium.

Speculation has suggested that the Trinidad and Tobago frontman was going to sign for the Swans - the club where he made a name for himself at Championship level, but Rodgers says he's had no contact with Ipswich about the player:

'There's no doubt he's [Scotland] a player that at this level can score goals, but I haven't spoken to [Ipswich manager] Paul Jewell or anyone of that ilk so he's... obviously an Ipswich player,'

'We've worked very hard this week making lots of calls, speaking to lots of people.

'The staff, the recruitment team, the chairman, we've all been working tirelessly to look at possibilities that maybe can help us.

'The difference with the January window is that if you're struggling in the league it can be a good chance to maybe get in reinforcements that could help the team jump up.

'It's not so easy when you're doing well and this group of players have been fantastic, because to bring in someone who's going to be better than what we have is going to be very difficult.

'One, because those players are not available more times than not, and two because we haven't got the money to buy that sort of player.

I don't see any big point in provoking and disrupting the group. The players here have been great.

'If I think there's one or two that can support us within the short term to help us in the remaining games, then that's certainly something I'll look at.'
