Leicester To Win Race To Sign van Aanholt On Loan?

BBC Radio Leicester understands today that Leicester City will win the race to sign highly rated Chelsea left back Patrick van Aanholt.

Brendan Rodgers was keen to bring in the young defender on loan as cover at left back with Neil Taylor currently injured and Alan Tate filling in at centre back.

It looks like Leicester City will beat the Swans to the signing of the Dutchman, who Rodgers believes is an 'Ashley Cole in the making'.

Rodgers knows van Aanholt from his days at Chelsea, but could a name like Leicester boss Sven Goran-Eriksson be more tempting to work with as he continues to develop and improve? The Swans are aiming for promotion this season, while the much improved Foxes could also challenge for the top 6 after a slow start under former Swansea manager Paulo Sousa. Leicester are now only 4 points behind 6th-placed Nottingham Forest, losing just 2 of their last 8 games.

Rodgers says he is still looking to sign players before the transfer window closes next week, with a defender and a striker on his wanted list.
