Wycombe Now Willing To Sell Johnson

Wycombe Wanderers are now willing to sell defender Roger Johnson but they are asking for more than £200,000 for his services.

Other clubs are also showing an interest in the 23 year-old and Jenkins said:

'I've been speaking to Wycombe every day and it looks as though they have decided to sell Roger Johnson,'

'But that means they are trying to drum up an auction and it's proving difficult because the sums of money we originally talked about have probably trebled.

'The player's expectations about earnings have probably trebled, too, but we are prepared to talk.

'From what I've heard there are a few clubs in for him and in the end it will probably come down to which one the player wants to join.'

'The position we find ourselves in at this club is the worst it's been since I've been here,' Jenkins explained.

'Players we're trying to sign want far more money out of us than perhaps they should be asking for, and clubs are demanding fees way in excess of what we feel a player is worth.

'That's a sign of how successful we've been and how we well regarded we are throughout the Football League.

'I said a few years ago that the job of running this club and managing the finances would get more difficult as we became more successful, and that's proving to be the case.'

'Everybody is expecting more money, and it comes back to our supporters and season-ticket sales.

'We need their help now more than ever.'

I don't think we should offer anything more than £200,000.

£100k was enough I reckon but as Kev says anything over £200k is a bit O.T.T Lets Hope it pays off

He signs for Cardiff for £275,000, can't say I'm surprised and that's way too much for a 4th division player.
