Swansea City Interested In Stoke Midfielder
Swansea City have contacted Stoke City about the availability of midfielder Tom Soares.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to bring in a midfielder as well as a defender in this month's transfer window.
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has confirmed that he has received a message from Rodgers regarding the 24 year-old.
Pulis told The Sentinel:
'Brendan did leave me a message and I have left him one back, so we still haven't spoken,'
'Like all players, if there was ever a deal to be done it would be between me and the clubs. That's the way it should be.'
Soares began his career at Crystal Palace when he came through the Youth academy with the Eagles before becoming a regular first teamer from 2005.
He had three busy seasons at Crystal Palace from 2005-2008 before joining Stoke City. He made 7 League appearances in his first season with the Potters but has since struggled to get regular first team appearances.
Soares has had loan spells at Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday whilst at Stoke, and like Scott Sinclair and Luke Moore, he may be keen for a move to get settled at a club where he could get more regular first team football.
He can play on the wing but prefers to play in the centre. At Crystal Palace he played in a 3-man central midfield - showing the ability to make excellent forward runs.
Soares started 128 League games for Crystal Palace - scoring 10 goals. At Stoke City he's managed just 5 League games in 2 years without scoring.
After leaving Crystal Palace, Soares has scored 3 goals whilst on loan at Charlton (1 goal) and Sheffield Wednesday (2) respectively.
