'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rodgers Praises Match Winner Pratley

Brendan Rodgers praised Darren Pratley after scoring in today's 1-0 home win against Reading.

The 25 year-old scored in the 65th minute and we held on for an excellent 3 points against a talented in-form Reading side.

Rodgers said:

'It was a fantastic goal by Darren,''

'It was a clever move to get Angel free at the back post. It looked an easy finish, but if you look at it again on the replays then he displayed great technique and power.

'He is the ultimate pro and the players love him here. I'm really happy for him because he's had a bit of stick of late.

'But it's very important in life to feel valued and he was excellent today. That goal will do wonders for him.''

The whole team showed their support for Pratley after his goal, while the midfielder paid his own appreciation to a manager who has stuck by him after running into the dug-out during his celebrations.

'He is a wonderful pro,''

'He wanted to sign a new contract in the summer, but for whatever reason it didn't happen.

'As a player I can't ask any more of him. He's a good guy, doesn't give me any problems and works hard. And as a manager it's my job to support him.''
