Rodgers Still Hopeful of Signing a Striker

Brendan Rodgers is still looking to sign a striker, but insists it must be the right type of player for the squad.

The Swansea City manager is looking to strengthen his attacking options but he failed this week with his attempts to sign West Brom forward Roman Bednar.

It's now been reported that he's turned his attentions to Leicester City's Matty Fryatt, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Walkers Stadium.

Rodgers told Wales Online:

"The position of the football club means we can`t just go and spend money like some others,"

"As much as perhaps we would love to, I respect the club`s position and know we have to be creative to get the right type in.

"The players I have had since pre-season have been outstanding until now and I want to help and aid those players with someone to support them and help the team grow again.

"I won`t just bring someone in for the sake of it."

"We have plenty of targets and there are plenty of people the club will speak to, but it is about the right person and then whether we can make it happen.

"Ideally we can do something next week with a view to something longer in January.

"But I won`t bring one in for the sake of another number."


Rodgers is running out of time though as the emergency loan window expires on Thursday 25th November which means he might have to wait until January before he can strengthen his squad.
