Williams To Captain Swansea City On Saturday

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Ashley Williams will wear the captain's armband on Saturday at Doncaster Rovers.

It was the obvious decision as the defender has also captained the Welsh international side in Craig Bellamy's absent. As Rodgers says below, he's a great leader as well as an excellent solid performer at the back.

'I'm very luck as a manager because I've got a number of senior pros at the club who are good leaders,'' explained Swans boss Brendan Rodgers.

'But Ashley will be the one wearing the captain's armband on Saturday. He's a great leader and the fact that he has already captained his country proves that.''

We posted up a poll on our Message Forum but there wasn't much point as Ashley Williams was by far the clear winner in the votes.

Garry Monk (calf strain) and Alan Tate (1-match suspension) both miss Saturday's trip to Doncaster Rovers so Williams will captain the side and is most likely to be joined by Albert Serran and Neil Taylor who will replace the absent duo.
