Monk: Derby-Day Win Was For The Fans

Swansea City captain Garry Monk has praised the fans for their support during yesterday's superb 1-0 win against our arch rivals Cardiff City.

Brendan Rodgers' side came out on top on derby-day, ended Cardiff's unbeaten start at home and we closed the gap on our rivals to just 3 points.

After serving a one-match ban, Monk returned for the big game and he said:

How many people would have believed that we could win at Cardiff?'

'Not many I suspect.

'But we have full faith in ourselves and our confidence is buzzing.

'I said in the week that all I cared about was putting in a performance and we delivered.

'But while we get the plaudits, we have to point out that our supporters were brilliant again.

'This result is for our fans we know how much this win means to them.

'They are always behind us in their numbers every week, and they really spurred us on to this win.

'This means that they will go into work now and have one over on any colleagues that support Cardiff.'


The Swans now look to continue their impressive form on Wednesday evening, when Bristol City visit the Liberty Stadium.
