Emnes: I Want To Stay If Boro Don't Play Me

Marvin Emnes says he wants to extend his loan spell at Swansea City if Middlesbrough don't give him games following his return.

"Such a shame for us that Strachan left the Boro, had he still been there we'd have got Emnes for much longer I'm sure."

The striker, who can also play on either wing, says he has enjoyed his spell at the club and that regular first team football and scoring goals is vital to gaining confidence and improving his game. He's had that at Swansea, but before that he wasn't playing under Middlesbrough's previous boss Gordon Strachan.

Before the Scot's departure, we were hopeful of signing Emnes permanently as he wasn't in Strachan's first team plans, but with a change of manager, a move for the Dutchman now looks unlikely.

However, if Emnes doesn't get regular first team football back at Middlesbrough, he may seek a move elsewhere.

After scoring the only goal to give Swansea a 1-0 win against Cardiff City on Sunday, Emnes said:

'It feels great to be a Swansea hero,'

'We got three points in a derby and I got a goal so it was a good day for me - it was what i needed.

'Personally I need goals and games to build confidence so scoring felt great.'

'I have enjoyed my time at Swansea and it will be nice to stay.

'But I will see what is happening at Boro and see if I get any games.

'I have not met the new manager but I have a contract at Boro and want to do the best I can wherever I play.

'And if I have a chance to show myself at Middlesbrough, I will do that.'
