Bellamy Looks Forward To South Wales Derby

Bellamy Looks Forward To South Wales Derby

Craig Bellamy shares his thoughts ahead of what will be his first South Wales derby match on Sunday.

The Welsh international striker has been involved and scored in a number of derbies across the country including Manchester City vs Manchester United and Rangers vs Celtic but this will be the first time he's played in an all-Welsh derby.

Bellamy believes there's not too much pressure on either side:

'This is obviously my first South-Wales derby and it is a little bit different to other derby fixtures I've played in because I've grown-up with this one and I know what it's all about,'

'You have to respect just how much this game means to the people of Cardiff and Swansea, but ultimately it's a game between two teams who are doing very well in the division.

I don't think there's that much pressure on either team, so it should make for a good game. We'll be trying our best to take the three points.'

'It's very important for Welsh football that our two biggest clubs are doing so well, but it's also an indication of just how far Cardiff and Swansea have come in a relatively short space of time,' Bellamy told the club's official website

'Welsh football hasn't had a good time in the last few decades; it's been a very poor period in general, so to have two teams riding high and pushing for a place in the Premier League bodes well for the area and for the future.

'It's important that a Welsh team gets into the top flight, if not both of us. This is just another ingredient that will hopefully make for a good derby on Sunday.'
