Rodgers: We Were Worthy Winners

Brendan Rodgers said his Swansea City side were worthy winners yesterday as they beat Leicester City 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium.

Brendan Rodgers made a vital substitute at the start of the second half, replacing Stephen Dobbie with Marvin Emnes - and he took less than 5 minutes to make an impact as he gave us the lead with an impressive strike.

Rodgers said:

'We were well worthy of that win today and we now have four clean sheets in a row. We have a real desire not to concede goals and I think we've added a bit of excitement and flair at the other end of the pitch.

'Our intensity and our pressure was really good and allowed us to get the ball back quickly. I was very, very proud with the performance because Leicester are a good team with an international class manager.

'In the first half Leicester were playing deep in defence and I just sensed we needed to change things.

'Stephen Dobbie likes to get the ball into feet and get into the box, but it just wasn't happening. Once you get the sense that you need to change then I'm not worried if it is after 45, 50 or 60 minutes.

'Marvin knows the system here and he came on and was fantastic. We won the ball back really well, and Darren Pratley's pass for him was exquisite, then Marvin showed great strength and pace to finish terrifically well.'
