Orlandi: I'm Really Lucky To Be Here

Andrea Orlandi says he's 'really lucky to be here' after revealing there was a chance to join Leicester City back in the Summer.

Swansea City could have been up against former boss Paulo Sousa at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday when the Foxes make a visit, but Leicester sacked him after a poor start to the season.

Since Sousa's exit, Leicester have experienced an improvement in form - winning 2 of the last 3 which has seen them go up the table and out of the relegation zone.

Andrea Orlandi said he thought Sousa was unlucky to be sacked:

'I think Paulo was unfortunate,'

'He is a good manager and he did a good job with us, but he was not lucky at Leicester.

'It was a surprise to see him lose his job so quickly.

'Last season we didn't have the best start at Swansea but we got better as the season went on,'' said Orlandi.

'But the difference is that our chairman was patient and their chairman was not.

'Let's wait and see what happens with the new manager at Leicester,'' he added.

''Hopefully we can beat them this weekend so he doesn't have the best start either.'

Orlandi frustrated fans in pre-season because of his lack of commitment to the club as for a number of weeks he delayed his decision to sign a new contract.

It looked likely that the Spanish midfielder would move on and join Sousa at Leicester, but he stayed on and eventually put pen to paper on a new deal at the Liberty Stadium.

'There was a chance that I could have gone there, but it never happened and I don't think about it,'

'My first thought was always to stay at Swansea and Brendan (Rodgers) wanted me to stay so I'm here.

'I'm really lucky to be here with a team who are pushing on and trying to get promoted. That's all I think about.'

How can he say all of this garbage after he delayed signing a new deal with us? he took ages to sign one as he considered other offers from elsewhere.
