Rodgers Explains Reasons For Signing Emnes
Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers explained to the official site why he decided to sign another winger, Marvin Emnes on a month's loan.
Rodgers has the likes of Nathan Dyer, Scott Sinclair and David Cotterill available as wingers but the Swans boss said he feels his team lack pace without Dyer and Sinclair.
Emnes is out of favour at Middlesbrough and Rodgers will take a look at him over the next month before considering whether or not he's worth trying to sign on a permanent basis:
We've got a few young players in the squad who are not going to last every minute of every game,''
'And I just feel we lack pace on both wings when Scott (Sinclair) or Nathan (Dyer) aren't playing. Marvin has a lot of pace and can go people in one on one situations.
'He's not in the picture at Middlesbrough at the moment. It's a chance for us to have a look at him over the next month and perhaps then we'll see if we can do something else further down the line.''
Scunthorpe United boss Ian Baraclough also said that he missed out on trying to sign Emnes:
'I was hoping to have brought him in by now, but he's decided to go there (Swansea) instead,'
'That was his choice. As soon as he was made aware that we wanted to bring him in, Swansea were made aware of the situation and they made their move.
'It's frustrating. He's chosen to go somewhere where there's a far bigger squad, and whether he will play as much as he wants I don't know.'
