Swansea City Sign Winger Emnes On Loan
Swansea City have today completed the one-month loan signing of Middlesbrough winger Marvin Emnes.
The 22 year old, who can play on either wing as well as up front, trained with his new team-mates today and he could feature in Tuesday night's home game against Championship table toppers QPR.
Emnes arrived into the Premier League two years ago with much hope and promise as Middlesbrough paid Sparta Rotterdam £3.2m for his services after impressive performances the Dutch top flight. His first and only League goal for Boro was actually against the Swans on August 15th 2009 at the Liberty Stadium.
Emnes has struggled to earn himself a regular first team place in Gordon Strachan's side so he's looking to kick-start his career with a temporary move to South Wales.
Although we don't need wingers with the quality we have in Nathan Dyer, Scott Sinclair and David Cotterill, he can be used as a more attacking player. He also has lightning pace that always causes problems for opposition defenders. The news doesn't look too good for Cedric Van Der Gun though, he has spoken out to the media recently that he wants to leave if he doesn't start playing more regularly in the first team. The wideman has rarely played a League game this season and it won't be surprising if he's looking for a new club some time in 2011.
