'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bodde Hoping To Sign New Contract Soon

Ferrie Bodde says he's hoping to sign a new contract soon to show his appreciation towards the club for their continued support during his long-term injury problems.

The Dutch midfielder has struggled for two years with a knee ligament problem and in that time he has failed twice to return to first team action after long rehabilitation periods.

Despite his continued problems and the fact that he might not even play again until next Spring or Summer, Bodde is in new contract talks with the Swans and he's hoping a deal can be agreed soon:

'It has been a difficult time for me because of the injury.

'I want to play for Swansea and be a part of the manager's plans.

'The team has been doing very well but it's frustrating for me because I can't do anything to help.

'Of course, my contract finishes next year but I'm talking with the chairman and I hope soon we can get something agreed.

'I say that not just because I want my future cleared up, but because I want to show my appreciation to the club.

'The chairman, the manager, my team-mates, the staff at Swansea and also the fans everyone has been very good and supportive to me through this tough time.

'If I can get on the pitch and play well for Swansea then maybe I can repay everyone.'

Bodde has been back in his native Holland to recover from the injury but manager Brendan Rodgers wants him back in Swansea to complete his rehabilitation.

'It's been good seeing everyone at the club again,'

'Meeting up with my team-mates was good and a lot of fans were asking when was I going to play again?

'That is nice because it shows people care. But if I heard that every day, everywhere I went then me recovery would feel like it was taking much longer.

'In Holland, I see fitness coach Rob Meppelink every day and we keep our heads down and get on with it.

'But I'm looking forward to being back in Swansea soon.'
