Jenkins: Bodde In New Contract Talks

Huw Jenkins has revealed that talks have been held with Ferrie Bodde regarding a new contract.

The Dutch midfielder has been out of action for a year after suffering a second setback to his troublesome knee ligament injury, and he is expected to return to Swansea soon to continue his rehabilitation.

The 28 year-old is out of contract next Summer but there are still concerns surrounding his footballing future, and whether or not it can be third time lucky for Bodde.

Jenkins said:

'There are talks already ongoing with Ferrie and his agent regarding a new contract and various options,'

'Ferrie is in Swansea this week and that is something we will discuss.

'Of course, Ferrie is a talented player and is someone who we have shown a lot of support to.

'Brendan knows the quality that Ferrie possesses and he wants him to be a part of what he wants to achieve here.

'Ferrie has been recovering from his injury in Holland, where he has his family around him.

'But we are expecting him to return to Swansea either next month or the start of December and then he will be here full time working on his comeback.

'Then we will take the talks further regarding a new contract.'

There are still doubts as to whether Bodde can fully recover in time to participate this season, with an expected return sometime in the Spring:

'Ferrie has been comfortable recovering in Holland,'

'I think you have to consider what is best for both parties. It is also important Ferrie knows that something is being lined up for him. He is really working hard to put himself back in the frame to play.

'We have got a very good relationship with Ferrie, and we look forward to his return.'

I hope it's worth it, I have doubts he'll play again

He needs to be playing before we offer a contract, no need to rush this as i don't see many teams wanting him with his recent injuries
cyjax
should be 1 year max
