Rodgers: Williams Can Be Permanent Wales Skipper
Brendan Rodgers says Ashley Williams has the potential to become the permanent skipper of the Wales senior squad.
The Swansea City defender is set to captain the side this evening against Bulgaria at the Cardiff City Stadium (7:30pm) as Flynn takes charge of his first international match as temporary manager.
'He's a guy who is a natural leader,'
'He is inspirational in the way he plays. He is eight or nine out of 10 every week.
'He has captained Wales before and he led the team very well.
'There is no doubt he can be the next permanent Wales captain.
'He will have learned a lot from Craig Bellamy and his way of doing things as the captain.
'I don't know what the situation is regarding Brian and the job full-time, but Ash will certainly be one of the candidates if things are to change.
'In the longer term, he can certainly captain Wales permanently because he is the type of player that others look to and can be inspired by him.'
