Mackay Pleased With Second Half Display

Watford boss Malky Mackay said was pleased with his side's second half performance as they went close to coming back to draw from a 3-goal deficit.

Swansea City started the much stronger side and thanks to Scott Sinclair and Stephen Dobbie we were 2-0 in front.

Loanee striker Frank Nouble then came on and scored a third with around 20 minutes left, but Watford didn't give up as they went looking for a way back into the game.

The Hornets stung the Swans at the end with two goals and Rodgers' side were just hanging on to the win. Luckily a late goal was ruled out for Watford due to offside.

Mackay said:

I think the character we certainly showed in the second half, and latterly in the first half, and the amount of chances we had, I think merited that [disallowed] goal at the end there.

'But there were some great blocks and good saves by the goalkeeper, but it wasn't to be.

'We didn't start the game well and Swansea did start the game well, all credit to them.

'I thought after 20 minutes or so we got a grasp on it and gave their goalkeeper work to do in the last 10, 15 minutes of that first half and possibly could have scored in that time.

'I think that gave us confidence and belief for the second half and in the whole second half I thought we were excellent.'
