De Vries: I Don't Feel Any Pressure

Dorus De Vries insists he's not feeling under any pressure following the arrival of new goalkeeper Yves Makabu-Makalambay - who's aiming to push the Dutchman for the number 1 spot.

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers has brought in the shot stopper to add competition to De Vries, and he's likely to loan out youngster David Cornell in order for him to get regular first team experience.

De Vries said:

'I don't feel under any pressure and it doesn't make any difference because I've got my own motivations,'

'That's what I've shown over the three seasons I've been here and that's what I've shown throughout my career.

'You create your own space of concentration and everyone in the team has got their own reasons to perform.

'I've got dreams which keep me sharp.

'I don't need somebody else to push me. If someone needs to push me then something's wrong.'

'The gaffer said from the beginning of the season 'you're the No. 1, you're a big part of this team',' said de Vries.

'That's why he wants me to commit my longer future to Swansea.

'Like most of the players, if people believe in you it can give you a little extra. It's a pat on the back for my 150-odd games for Swansea.

'The chairman is coming up with a proposal and he's going to talk to my agent.

'I'd like to stay. I enjoy working with (goalkeeping coach) Adrian Tucker and I enjoy working with Dai Cornell as well.

'I've been here three years. This is my fourth and I think this team has capability.'
