Swansea City Sign Makabu-Makalambay

Swansea City have signed goalkeeper Yves Makabu-Makalambay until the end of the season.

Brendan Rodgers brought the former Chelsea shot stopper in on trial in order to give Dorus De Vries more competition for the number 1 spot. He is also looking to give youngster David Cornell more first team football, instead of being an unused sub every week, and is likely to go out on loan.

The 6ft 6' goalkeeper worked with Rodgers while he Youth Team Manager at Stamford Bridge. The 24 year-old was released by Hibernian at the end of the season and the free agent was able to sign for the club outside of the transfer window.

Rodgers said earlier this month:

'He's a player that I know well and I know his capabilities,'

'He's looked good (in training); he's a boy that was a big talent at Chelsea, where he was offered a two-year deal, he turned it down to go and get regular football at Hibs.'

Yves has told Swans Player that he is looking forward to making his debut on Tuesday night at Peterborough United in the Carling Cup, so he looks very likely to be in the first team tomorrow evening.
