Dobbie: Confidence Is Back Thanks To Rodgers

Stephen Dobbie has paid tribute to manager Brendan Rodgers, saying he has helped him boost his confidence after a disappointing last year under former boss Paulo Sousa.

Sousa didn't see Dobbie as the type of striker to fit in and suit his style of football last season, and after just one League game he was often an unused substitute before enjoying an excellent loan spell at Blackpool - where he celebrated their unbelievable promotion to the Premier League.

Dobbie praised Rodgers, saying he's 'loving every minute of it' working for the new man in charge, and he also believes we can replicate Blackpool's superb achievement of reaching the top flight on a limited budget.

'Last year knocked all the confidence out of me,'

'I don't think I could have been any lower than I was last year. But I went to Blackpool and got some back.

'I've loved every minute under the gaffer here, so it's a matter of trying to do the business for him.

'When you've got a manager that's confident in you, it's a different story.

'I'm enjoying coming into work now, whereas last year it was very different for me.'

'If we can sort our away form out, we can be right up there.

'I had a great journey at Blackpool — we can take the same journey here if we do that.'

Dobbie was dropped for Saturday's game at home to Scunthorpe United, as Rodgers gave new loan signing Frank Nouble his debut. Dobbie though proved his quality though with a stunning strike to round off a 2-0 victory against Scunthorpe United.
