Swans Set To Improve Johnson Bid

Swans Set To Improve Johnson Bid

June 11th: Swansea City are likely to make an improved bid for Wycombe defender Roger Johnson.

We previously failed with a 100,000 but Jackett is keen to sign the Chairboys' captain and is expected to double his bid for the 23 year-old.

The League 2 side don't have a manager at present and Jackett says it may be a case that they're waiting to see who their new manager will be before considering selling their players.

mattyjones has provided us with a scan of the article from the Daily Mirror:

Sky Sports and Edgware & Mill Hill Times are now also reporting news of an improved bid for Johnson.

Kenny Jackett said: "He's very strong in both boxes and would be a good addition at Swansea."

A club spokesman said: "We are still in the market for a centre back and there are still funds available to spend."

when i seen it in the paper this morning(sunday) i was very shocked because i thought Kenny gave up on him. If we do buy him could it be the end of austin's and even Gary Monk's swansea playing carrer?

I think Monk is the most likely to move on, especially if (as anticipated) Johnson gets the captain's armband. With Monk having been deputy, it's a snub he might not be too happy about.

Good luck to you. If you get him, then it will be a good buy and one in the cap for persistence.

I think that both Monk and Austin are way too slow for our defence and that if we do manage to sign Johnson then with Izzie and Watt both back fit, then both Monk and Austin will become spectators for the rest of the season, both way down the pecking order and only probably to be used in emergencies or ldv or faw cup matches. I have been very dissapointed with the defence this season, and beleive totally that they have cost us our automatic promotion,as we threw away way too many leads through out the season. This is noyhing personal but just football! If you dont do what you get paid for then you get fired! Good luck for the season, and to stay injury free!
