Swans To Beat Leeds In Race To Sign Lansbury?

Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers is hoping that he can complete a loan move for young Arsenal Midfielder Henri Lansbury.

"why oh why do we let the press know our dealings? Leeds or us, i'd put money on him joining Leeds."

Fellow Championship rivals Leeds United are also interested in signing the 19 year-old but local reports suggest that the Swans could beat them in the race to land the promising midfielder.

Rodgers has recently said that he is looking to sign a striker and a goalscoring midfielder within the next few days. We've also been linked with a move for West Ham United frontman Frank Nouble.

"The club has been in touch with his representatives and with Arsenal more importantly and we`re obviously looking to do a deal to bring him here.

We are hoping in the next couple of days that we can sort something out."

Lansbury scored 5 goals in 39 appearances whilst on loan at Watford last season. He has also had a spell at Scunthorpe United - he scored 4 goals in 16 games for the Iron in 2009.

He's an attacking midfielder who can play on either wing but prefers a more central role. He impressed at Vicarage Road having been one of their stand-out players last season.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is predicting big things for Lansbury, in January he said:

'He will be a big player for me,'

'He is at the moment having a very interesting experience [at Watford] that we judge to be very successful.

'He will come back at the end of the season and practise with the first-team in the next pre-season. Then we will assess the situation with him together.'

not necessarily as it's not a career choice but one to help develop his game. i'd say we play a more similar style to arsenal than leeds!

Can't see why Leeds would be pushing for an attacking midfielder. With the formation were playing we currently require a defensive -midfielder. With Gradel due back after his ban, Somma returning last week, Paynter and Snodgrass returning soon, we will have much choice in regards to our attacking force.

Also to add that we have Sanchez (you!)Watt (i'm aware he's on loan) and Lloyd Sam, also adding the numbers in regards to strike force, it just makes me think more about why such a story of a def-mid hasn't crept up yet?

I'd like to see us bring a defender in to provide more strength in the full back department but Rodgers is happy with his defence so that's unlikely to happen. I like the sound of this guy and he did well at Watford by all accounts. Lansbury, Agustien and a striker signing this week possibly and if they do we're looking good.
