Jenkins Hopeful Agustien Will Sign In Time

Chairman Huw Jenkins says he's 'hopeful' that Kemy Agustien will sign for Swansea City before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

The Dutch midfielder impressed during the Holland Tour and was involved in all three of the matches during a week's stay at Den Haag.

Unfortunately, he suffered a knee ligament injury in the final match, just minutes before he was set to be substituted - and this has stalled our progress in signing the 23 year-old on a permanent deal.

The Evening Post say that he was still under contract with Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar, but it's believed there is an agreement in place for us to sign the player without having to pay a fee.

Huw Jenkins told the Evening Post:

'From what we understand, Kemy is still under contract so that means we need to get a deal done before the window closes,'

'We need to wait until we get him over to Swansea so we can assess the situation, but we are hopeful that we will be able to get the deal done.

'As far as we are concerned, everything is agreed and we are waiting for him to get himself fit and ready to come back into training with us.'

Agustien was a confident and commanding figure in the centre of midfield during the Holland Tour and it didn't him long in his opening match to stand out and impress. The Dutch midfielder settled quickly into our style of play and you could easily see why Rodgers was so keen to add him to this season's squad. Hopefully we can do that this month.
