Swansea City Give Trial To Spanish Striker

Swansea City will take a look at Francisco Sandaza this week after arriving on trial from Dundee United.

Brendan Rodgers says his number one priority this month is to bring in a new striker after Gorka Pintado suffered a shoulder injury and will be sidelined for up to two months.

Sandaza has arrived at the Liberty Stadium from Scottish Premier League side Dundee United, after having spells with Spanish sides Toledo B, CD Onda, UD Puçol and Valencia Mestalla.

The 26 year-old spent 4 years at Valencia but he spent most of that time playing for their B-side Valencia Mestalla. In his final season at the club, he scored an impressive 23 goals in 36 appearances which helped them win promotion to the Segunda Division.

He's only netted 11 goals in 38 games for Dundee, but his spell up north has been hindered by a serious hernia problem which saw him miss the first 7 months of last season, as he made his return in March. He netted 1 goal in 8 last term, scoring in a 4-2 away win at Hibernian.

The 6ft striker is now in his final year of his contract at Tannadice Park and he'll be hoping he can kickstart his career and forget about his previous injury problems.
