Brendan Rodgers said it was a wonderful and 'near-on perfect' performance today as Swansea City eased to a 4-0 home win against Preston North End.
After a rather slow opening 10 minutes for the Swans, where Preston had a few decent chances from counter-attacks, we completely dominated the next 80 minutes and went to score 4 goals against a poor Preston side. The scoreline could have been even higher but after the fourth went in the Swans cruised to full time.
Swansea City fans weren't used to goals or great entertaining performances last season under Paulo Sousa, but today we got more than our money's worth as we produced a superb attacking display, as we quickly forgot about last Saturday's opening day defeat at Hull City.
Rodgers told BBC Sport:
'I thought it was a wonderful performance and display and a big, big credit to the players,'
'They have taken on board all the things we've been doing in terms of our pressing and getting people into the box, and it was a near-on perfect performance.
'It's an offensive approach but always with discipline and I think what you saw was the goal scoring and the possession with the football and I think the intensity of our pressure allowed us to get into those positions.'
'I think he settled very well,'
'Him and Nathan Dyer were outstanding on both sides.
'I think the difference between 4-5-1 and 4-3-3 is you've got two wingers who can go on the attack, but they need to be high up the field... and you can see the threat that they are which is fantastic.
