Matty Collins Leaves Swansea City

&keyMatty Collins has left Swansea City by mutual consent, as he goes in search for regular first team football.

The former Fulham defender joined the Swans under former boss Roberto Martinez in 2007 but he has struggled to get first team games at the Liberty Stadium.

"nice to see the dead wood going. Sousa talked well about trimming the squad but done nothing. Well done Brendan."

Collins, who can play at right back or in midfield, was a regular in the Reserves but he was never able to show enough ability to promote him to the first team.

He told the Official Site:

'It was my decision in the end,''

'I'm 24 and need to play regular football.

'I could have sat in the stands for the rest of the season and perhaps played the odd game here and there. But I want to be playing 30 or 40 games a season.

'It's a risk leaving the club without a contract elsewhere, although I have a few things in the pipeline, but it's a risk I feel I need to take to play regular football again.

'I've enjoyed my time at Swansea and would like to thank everyone at the club and the fans for the support they've given me. I've been pleased to be part of it.''
