Curtis Concedes Rangel is Likely To Leave

Swansea City coach Alan Curtis concedes that Angel Rangel is likely to leave the club to join Blackpool.

'Goodbye, we don't need him. What a joke wanting to go to Blackpool.'

The Seasiders recently failed in their attempts to sign the right back as we rejected an undisclosed bid for the 27 year-old, but the Swans have told the Premiership new-boys to up their bid if they want to sign the full back.

Rangel has shown a keen desire to leave the Liberty Stadium to play Premiership football and the Swans are almost certainly going to fail in tempting him to sign a new contract with us.

Speculation began during the Holland Tour about Rangel's future when he missed the 9-1 thrashing win against VC Sparta. Despite Rodgers saying it was simply a coincidence he didn't play, Rangel was having meetings with the club about his future. The Spaniard also wasn't happy to play in the final game at Den Haag but he had no option as he was still a Swansea City player.

Alan Curtis suggests that it's a matter of when not if Rangel will leave:

"I think the club are trying to persuade Angel and trying to open talks over a new contract,"

"But obviously the lure of playing in the Premier League is something he is probably going to find very difficult to turn down."

"It looks likely that he may well move on, but that might not be for a couple of weeks yet.

"The (transfer) deadline is not until the end of August and the shame is he`s such a good player for us."
