Rodgers Praises Match Winner Dobbie

Brendan Rodgers praised striker Stephen Dobbie after he scored a superb goal to help us beat Cheltenham Town 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium this afternoon.

"Dobbie has to be our most natural finisher, but can he up top on his own?"

The Swans dominated the entire 90 minutes and we had plenty of chances to score goals, especially in the first half, but the woodwork denied us 5 times throughout the game.

Dobbie broke the deadlock early in the second half, turning in the box before unleashing an unstoppable strike into the bottom corner.

Rodgers said:

'It was a great bit of skill and a fantastic strike for the goal,'

'I watched Stephen (Dobbie) a few times when he was on loan at Blackpool last season.

'He is a massive talent and you could see by his celebration how much it meant to him.

'He can score goals; that's for sure. I said to him afterwards that if he watches TV tonight he won't see a much better goal than that.'

Dobbie has had a disappointing spell so far at the club, as former boss Paulo Sousa didn't give him a chance in the League last season and loaned him out to Blackpool - where he scored 4 goals in 16 appearances. He contributed to the Seasiders' promotion to the Championship and has been linked with a permanent move to Bloomfield Road.

Hopefully Rodgers is the man to get the best out of him and finally provide us with a regular goalscorer, as we desperately need one after last year's constant struggle to find the net.
