Orlandi Happy To Sign New 2-Year Contract

Andrea Orlandi has signed a new 2-year contract at the Liberty Stadium.

The Spanish midfielder has been considering a new deal at Swansea City since the end of last season and he has finally put pen to paper to extend his stay in South Wales.

Orlandi has been training on his own for the past three weeks after his previous contract with the Swans expired, and he was strongly linked with a move to Leicester City, to team up again with former boss Paulo Sousa.

However, following talks with new manager Brendan Rodgers, he's been impressed and is now looking forward to improving his fitness ready for the new Championship campaign.

He told the Official Site:

'I'm glad it's finally over,''

'There were a lot of things to focus on with Paulo (Sousa) going and the new manager (Brendan Rodgers) coming in.

'The chairman was keen for me to speak to him before anything was agreed. It was something I wanted to do as well because we may not have suited each other.

'But I was lucky that he (Rodgers) wants to play the game the same way - the Swansea way. It's a style that I think suits me - the mentality and the passing game.

'I was very impressed with what he had to say and I can't wait to improve my fitness and start the new season properly.''

'I've trained on my own in Swansea over the last three weeks,'' he added. 'I've trained in the park and on the beach, wherever I can really.

'It's not the same as training together with the rest of the lads though. My legs are aching a bit after the last two days, but I've enjoyed it.

'I've liked what I've seen. In fact, all the lads have enjoyed training under the new gaffer and the way he speaks to us.

'He's a nice man and a good manager. He has coached some of the best players in the world and I'm sure I will learn a lot from him.''
