Swansea City Miss Out On Colace

Swansea City have failed in their attempts to sign Hugo Collace on a free transfer, as the midfielder has decided to sign a new contract at Barnsley.

Chairman Huw Jenkins spoke to soon recently when he said that the Argentinian was due at the Liberty Stadium for talks regarding a move, as instead he's decided to ignore a lot of interest from different and has decided to stay on at Oakwell.

The news comes as a big boost for the Tykes as they have managed to hold onto one of their key players. He won the Player of the Season and Player's Player of the Season awards last season.

Colace told Barnsley's official website:

'I'm very pleased to have signed for Barnsley.

'I had many clubs wanting me to come to them, but after thinking long and hard I could not turn my back on club and the supporters.'

Swansea City will now have to move on to other targets and surely a striker will be on top of Brendan Rodgers' list of targets before the season starts in less than 3 weeks time.
