Rodgers: Mourinho Advice Will Help

New Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers says Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is always available to help him with advice.

The 37 year-old worked with Mourinho when he appointed him as Youth Team manager at Chelsea, and the Portuguese boss regards him very highly. When he first joined Stamford Bridge in 2004, Mourinho said:

'I like everything in him,'

'He is ambitious and does not see football very differently from myself.

'He is open, likes to learn and likes to communicate. I hope he can progress in his career. He is a good lad.'

Rodgers now says he's always available if he needs help and advice:

'I will always have a link with Jose,'

'If I need advice, I know he'll be there.

'I can pick up the phone to him, I can text him and he replies very quickly.

'He was great for me as he helped nurture my career. But I don't have Jose's film-star looks or his bank account.

'He's a big influence for me and showed great faith in me by giving me big positions, and obviously that's helped me when I've moved out on my own and given me that confidence.'

'I have been waiting for my opportunity and Swansea ticks all the right boxes.'
