Chairman Huw Jenkins says he is 'delighted' with the appointment of new manager Brendan Rodgers.
Swansea City failed in their attempts to recruit other targets on their shortlist, including favourite Gary Speed but Jenkins is happy to finally get his man.
Rodgers, another young manager, has already managed two clubs in the Championship division, Watford and Reading, and his spells at the two clubs certainly differ. Watford was a success, but Reading sacked the 37 year-old after a poor run of results.
Rodgers also has experience of working with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea, when he was Youth Team Manager at Stamford Bridge, and he was highly thought of by the Real Madrid boss.
His arrival at the Liberty Stadium is certainly going to receive mixed opinions from Swansea City fans, but regardless of your thoughts on him, we need to get behind him from day 1. Paulo Sousa took months before he got some decent support and he still had plenty of critics despite guiding us to a 7th place finish.
Jenkins said:
'I'm delighted with the appointment. It's taken us a bit of time, but I'm sure Brendan will prove well worth the wait.
'We set down strict criteria for the job. We have a unique structure and playing style at the club that we were determined to maintain. There were a lot of boxes to tick and that's why it didn't suit some candidates.
'Brendan not only ticked all our boxes, but he will offer us a lot more in our quest to keep this football club moving forward.
'He is young, talented and ambitious. Just by speaking to him you can see he has amazing drive and we are all excited about working with him.''
