'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tate: 'No Chance Of Me Leaving'

Alan Tate has quickly responded to speculation of him leaving, saying there's 'no chance' of him leaving the Liberty Stadium.

'doubt tate would want that, he's a jack through and through.'
Reports yesterday suggested that Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell was interested in signing the defender, and in return allow their first team coach Gary Speed to take over as our new manager.

Alan Tate, a true example, and a rare one, of player loyalty in football. The former Manchester United trainee said he doesn't want to join Sheffield United, even if they offered him a £5-6,000 pay rise.

Swansea City fans expected this sort of response from Tate, who has proved before that he holds the club close to his heart.

'There's no chance of me going,'

'I don't know a lot about the rumours and it was a surprise to me when I heard them.

'But however serious they were, the fact is that it's not for me.

'I don't want to go to Sheffield United and I don't want to go anywhere else, even if it would mean a pay rise.

'I have seen people move on for bigger money at another club, and I could probably get bigger money at Sheffield United.

'But the money doesn't interest me.

'I've seen other players leave for more money and it hasn't made them happy. They have ended up wanting to come back to Swansea.

'I am very happy both on and off the pitch at Swansea and, even if someone offered me £5,000 or £6,000 a week more, I wouldn't go.'
