Graeme Jones Interested In Swansea Job?

Former Assistant manager Graeme Jones is interested in the job at Swansea City, according to BBC Sport.

The 40 year-old played a big part alongside Roberto Martinez in our League 1 Championship winning season in 2007/2008, and Wales Online are today reporting that he's the man the players want to replace Paulo Sousa. He's also a popular choice amongst the fans.

However, chairman Huw Jenkins has said that Jones has never been in his thoughts when compiling a shortlist of potential candidates.

Although he wasn't spotted by anyone at yesterday's friendly at Port Talbot, BBC Sport say that he watched the Swans in action during a 'pre-planned' visit to South Wales.

Gary Speed still remains at the top of Swansea's wanted list though, and despite our approach for the Welshman being rejected by Sheffield United this week, Jenkins is expected to continue his attempts to appoint him.

Jenkins says their interest in Speed 'ended' after the Blades rejected their approach, but many Swans fans have argued that other clubs manage to get their targets so why can't we. We tried desperately to keep Roberto Martinez 12 months ago, but Wigan Athletic came in and took our entire management team. Our efforts to keep Paulo Sousa this week weren't quite the same.

While we can't look too much into the bookies odds, Graeme Jones' odds are shortening at Victor Chandler, while Gary Speed still remains as one of the clear favourites.

Graeme Jones has my vote. A few of the players want him here I've heard, plus he knows most of them and would bring back an exciting style of play.
