Jenkins: Lot of Interest In Manager's Job
Huw Jenkins says the club have received a lot of applications to replace Paulo Sousa as Swansea City manager.
The Swans chairman said last year that they had over 100 applicants for the job following Martinez's departure, and the club have had plenty of interest again.
Jenkins told the Evening Post:
'We have had a lot of applications and a lot of phone calls,'
'We always do. I could give you 50 names by the end of this process. But, at the end of the day, it all comes down to one person.
'Then it's all about whether it is the right time for the person we want. There are a lot of factors to be considered.
'At the moment I am very open-minded about all the candidates. There is no definite route that we need to go down.
'The main thing is that we make the right appointment. It's not important where that manager comes from.
'There are no lessons to be learned from what happened with Paulo.'
Gary Speed is the clear favourite still with the bookies, and his odds have shortened yet again today to 1/3 - suggesting that he could well be the man to take over at the Liberty Stadium. You can't read too much into the odds, but the bookies have usually been right. Sousa was favourite to take the Leicester City job days before the move was officially announced.
John Hartson has dropped from 14/1 to 33/1, Nigel Adkins and Paul Tisdale's odds have also dropped.
Second favourite and new to be added to the betting list, is Jean Guy Wallemme, who currently manages French side RC Lens.
