Jenkins: No Thoughts On Jones As Manager

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has all but ruled a move for assistant boss Graeme Jones, saying he hasn't thought about him as a possible candidate to replace Paulo Sousa as our new manager.

Graeme Jones worked with Roberto Martinez when he was manager at the club, but he followed the Spaniard to Wigan Athletic last year. He's been one of many names linked to take the job at the Liberty Stadium, but a move back to South Wales seems highly unlikely.

Jenkins told the Evening Post:

'I've never thought about Graeme.

'He went with Roberto and good luck to him there. He's never been in my thoughts since. He's not in my thoughts at all.'

Jenkins also mentioned other possible candidates, including Gary Speed and Doncaster Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll:

'We spoke to Gary Speed last time. We all know about his playing record in Wales and he's enjoyed the experience at Sheffield United,'

'Gary is probably looking for opportunities and whether with us in the future or another club, I've got no doubt he's going to manage someone soon.

'Sean O'Driscoll has done a reasonable job at Doncaster with the budget he's had.

'There have been a couple of approaches for him, so we've heard, from other clubs and they seem to have stalled with the level of compensation.

'Perhaps in a lot of cases he's out of everybody's touch with the level of compensation that's needed to pay so whether he'll be on our list we'll have to wait and see.'
