Swansea City Sign Aldershot Midfielder

Swansea City have confirmed their first signing of the Summer as they welcome Aldershot Town midfielder Scott Donnelly to the Liberty Stadium.

The 22 year-old told the Official Site that he 'didn't have to think twice' before putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.

News had emerged yesterday about the possibility of us signing Connelly and the Swans will now pay Aldershot a compensation package because he is under 24.

'But as soon as Swansea came calling I didn't have to think twice about it.

'Swansea are a top Championship club with a top manager. And, from what I've seen, they play some of the best football outside the Premier League.

'I believe I am capable of doing well in the Championship and I'm really looking forward to the challenge.

'I like to get on the ball and make things happen. Hopefully I can make things happen for Swansea City next season.''

Connelly was a key player for the League 2 side last season and scored 13 League goals in 42 starts last season.

Aldershot manager Kevin Dillon said:

'I'm really pleased for Scotty. He goes with a pat on the back and the club he's going to is great.

'Some people will be surprised where he's going, but he deserves it and it will improve his career.

'He has been really good for us and his attitude has been terrific. I knew that he would move and the opportunity at Swansea City will be an excellent one for him. He may have to be patient once he gets there, but he has great attributes.

'He is excellent at set pieces. The facilities will be better for him and he will get fitter and stronger.

'We will get a very good transfer fee with a healthy sell on clause too.'

so im guessing he plays central midfield? and judging by his goal tally last season, he's an attacking midfield player?
