Dobbie's Tribute To Idrizaj

Stephen Dobbie made his own personal tribute to Besian Idrizaj following the Championship play-off final on Saturday.

The Swansea City striker came on as a secodn half substitute for Blackpool as they beat our arch rivals Cardiff City 3-2 at Wembley to win promotion to the Premier League.

During the celebrations, Dobbie showed a t-shirt under his kit which said 'R.I.P Besian Idrizaj'. A heart-warming tribute from the striker, who showed his respect to the young 22 year-old who tragically died on May 15th.

He told the Evening Post:

'I'm devastated with what happened to him,'

'He was such a top lad and a good friend of mine. I saw how much the boys cared for him.

'But I couldn't have picked a better way to pay tribute to him. I hope people saw it.'

Dobbie also talked about his future but he's not sure where exactly it lies, following his loan spell with promotion-winning Blackpool.

He added:

'I'm still a Swansea player, but I don't know what happens now,'

'I started the season well but after my (rib) injury I was told to go out to get games and that's what I did, and it's worked out brilliantly for me.

'I have mixed emotions because everyone is celebrating going to the Premier League, but I don't know what's going to happen with me.

'It was a great honour to help them and I can use this experience.'

'No-one expected us to get into the play-offs, no-one expected us to beat Nottingham Forest in the semi-final and no-one expected us to beat Cardiff.

'But we always believed in ourselves and we knew we could win the game.'
